1849 Gold Sovereign minted by the Royal Mint in London. Second (Large) Head. SCBC 3852C. A variation may show a Roman I.

The Obverse is a portrait of Queen Victoria, Young Head by William Wyon. Initials 'WW' at base of neck.

The Edge is milled.

The Reverse, by Jean Baptiste Merlen, is a crowned shield containing the emblems of England, Scotland and Ireland.
