The Reverse shows a crowned shield, The shield is quartered and has a legend around it "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" which means Shame on he who thinks evil of it. The Reverse is by Thomas Wyon.
The edge may be plain or reeded.
The Obverse shows a portrait of Laureate head of King George III by Benedetto Pistrucci.Proof versions exist.
