The 2026 HMS Beagle Silver Proof commemorates the 200th anniversary of the voyage of the HMS Beagle, which carried Charles Darwin on a five-year voyage (1831–1836) around the world while researching his ground-breaking work into evolution.
The coin is available as 2026 HMS Beagle £2 BU, Silver Proof (this coin) and 2026 HMS Beagle Gold Proof £2.
The Reverse, by William Webb, shows the HMS Beagle at sea, with a border of animals that were studied by Darwin. The coin was created in collaboration with Royal Museums Greenwich.
The edge Inscription is 'VOYAGE OF THE BEAGLE' in fine milled incuse edge lettering.
The Obverse is the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. Legend "CHARLES III D G REX F D 2 POUNDS 2026".Maximum mintage set at 2,560 (which includes coins in sets).
