The 2013 Gold Sovereign ProofA limited edition of 7,500 individually boxed Proof Sovereigns were issued by the Royal Mint in 2013.
Benedetto Pistrucci's famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverse of the coin.
Queen Elizabeth II's fourth portrait can be seen on the obverse, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The sovereign is made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold Fineness of 0.916), and weighs 7.98 grams. It has a diameter of 22.05mm.
The coin was originally housed in a Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule, presented in its Royal Mint black velvet case, with outer black card box, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity (COA).Image credit: M J Hughes Coins.
