2002 Gold Sovereign Proof

2002 Sovereign Proof Reverse

The 2002 Gold Proof Sovereign

In 2002 Elizabeth II was in her 50th year as Queen making it a Golden Jubilee year. This coin has Timothy Noad’s Shield design depicted on the reverse. Due to this, it is a much sought after coin by collectors and thus has a higher price than usual.

Queen Elizabeth II’s fourth portrait can be seen on the obverse, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.

12,500 individually boxed proof sovereigns were issued by the Royal Mint in 2002.

The 2002 gold proof sovereign was originally housed in a Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule, presented in its Royal Mint velvet case with outer black card box, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
