USA Gold Half Eagle $5 coin. 0.900 fine gold (about 21.6 carats). Diameter 21.60mm, weighs 8.35g.

These coins were minted between 1908 and 1929. In 1908, coins were minted in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.

Obverse, designed by Bela Lyon Pratt, is a Native American head wearing a feathered headdress surrounded with 13 stars and the text LIBERTY. Date below and designers initials (BLP) just above date.

Edge is reeded.

Reverse is a perched eagle. Legend is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" with text "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST". Denomination below in text "FIVE DOLLARS". Mint mark (if present) is to the left of the perch. On this coin there is a small 'D' indicating the Denver Mint.
