1902 Gold Sovereign Perth

1902 Sovereign Perth Obverse

1902 Gold Sovereign Perth

The 1902 Gold Sovereign is the first gold sovereign coin in the reign of King Edward VII.

The Reverse of the 1902 Perth Sovereign depicts Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous portrayal of St George slaying the dragon. The small 'P' on the ground just above the date indicates the gold sovereign was minted at the Perth mint, Western Australia, Australia.

King Edward VII’s portrait, by George W. de Saulles, can be seen on the obverse of the coin.
