The 1743 Crown - George II

Silver Crown of King George II, dated 1743. Diameter 40mm, weight 29.779g. Old Head. SCBC 3688. Variants can have LIMA on obverse.

The Reverse shows crowned cruciform shields with roses in angles. The roses indicate the coin was minted with bullion from mines in the West of England.

Edge has raised lettering, DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI DECIMO SEPTIMO.

The Obverse shows a portrait of George II (as GEORGIVS II), wearing armour with a lion's head on the shoulder.
