The 2024 RNLI 200 Years Silver 50p ProofThis coin was voted Royal Mint Coin of the Year 2024.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was set up on 4 March 1824 after plans for a lifeboat service crewed by trained people were proposed by Sir William Hillary. Since then they have saved almost 150,000 lives. 97% of the crews are volunteers.

The RNLI 200 Years Fifty pence is minted as BU, BU Colour, Silver Proof Colour, Silver Proof Piedfort Colour, and Gold Proof. The is a similar design Gold Proof coin in 1/4oz and 2oz weights.
The Reverse, by John Bergdahl, shows the image of a lifeboat with the flag (logo) of the RNLI in the centre with an anchor below a crown.
The Obverse is the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. Legend "CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE 2024".Maximimum mintage of the silver proof is 4,510.
