The Royal Tudor Beasts from the Royal Mint commemorate the ten heraldic beasts that line the Moat Bridge of Hampton Court Palace. The Tudor Dragon Silver Proof coin was the sixth to be released in this series.
Besides in silver proof, the coin is also available as £5 BU, and in various weights of Silver and Gold.
Created at the request of King Henry VIII, the 10 beasts are: The Seymour Panther, the Lion of England, the Bull of Clarence, the Tudor Dragon, the Greyhound of Richmond, the Royal Dragon, the Yale of Beaufort, the Seymour Unicorn, the Queen’s Panther and the Queen’s Lion.
The Reverse, by David Lawrence, depicts the Tudor Dragon. Legend is "TUDOR DRAGON" and dated "2024".
Edge is inscribed "• HAMPTON COURT PALACE • ROYAL TUDOR BEASTS".
The Obverse shows a portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. Denomination is 2 Pounds. Legend is "CHARLES III D G REX F D 2 POUNDS 2024". Designers initials "MJ" below neck.The coin is dated 2024 on both the Obverse and on the Reverse.
Limited Edition (LE) is 5,000 with a maximum mintage of 5,510.
