The 2021 Gold 1oz Coin - Mr Men: Little Miss Sunshine

One ounce gold proof version of Little Miss Sunshine, the third coin from the Royal Mint Mr Men collection. These coins are produced in 999.9 Fine Gold.

One of the most famous and loved children's books, the Mr Men and Little Miss series, is 50 years old in 2021 and the Royal Mint have celebrated this event with a series of coins (£2 for silver proof, £5 for CuNi BU, £100 gold proof).

The Mr Men was created by author and illustrator Roger Hargreaves (1935-1988). When Roger died, his son Adam Hargreaves took over the helm. The books have sold over 100 million copied in 28 different countries and are still going strong today.

The Reverse of the coin has been designed by Adam Hargreaves.

The coins are available as BU (£5 coin, colourised and not colourised), Silver Proof (£2 coin, colourised) and Gold Proof (£100 coin). There are a variety of offerings and packaging.

The Obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.

The Limited Edition minting is 275.

Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning British Monarch ever, reigning for over 70 years. Born on 21 April 1926 to King George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, she became Queen in 1952 and her Coronation was on 2 June 1953. She died on 8 September 2022. Some coins were released dated 2023.

Queen Elizabeth II issued many coins and was monarch during decimalisation. She married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 and had four children. Her eldest son succeeded the throne as King Charles III. House of Windsor.

Which Mint: The Royal Mint
The Royal Mint is the designated place for the UK to mint coins. It dates back well over 1000 years and is a Government-owned company.
