The 2015 First Spouse $10 Gold: 1953-1961 Mamie Eisenhower

Mamie Eisenhower was the wife of 34th President, Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower. The coin was issued in 2015.

Marie Geneva Doud was born on 14 November 1896 in Iowa. She married Dwight in 1916. At the time, Dwight was in the army and the young couple moved many times, all around the World. Mrs Eisenhower was always very supportive of her husband. She died 1 November 1979, aged 82.

The Obverse shows a portrait of Mamie Eisenhower. Designer: Richard Masters.

The Reverse shows a hand holding a campaign button with text "I Like Mamie". It shows Mrs Eisenhower's popularity as it is a play on the "I Like Ike" campaign. Designer: Barbara Fox.

Following the same schedule as the Presidential $1 Coins, the First Spouse gold half-ounce $10 coins honour the first spouse of each President. Where the President does not have a spouse, then an image of Liberty from that time period is used on the Obverse. Images from the life of the Presidential term are used on the Reverse.

The program started in 2007. Each coin is ½oz of 0.999 gold and available as a bullion or as a Proof coin. They were minted at the West Point Mint.
