The 1967 Penny - Elizabeth IIBronze Penny of Elizabeth II, and this was the last of the pre-decimal circulation pennies. This is the second issue and it omitted the words BRITT OMN from the first issue. SCBC: 4157.
There was a large mintage and so have little value at the moment. They are large coins, having a diameter of 30.8mm and weight of 9.45g.

The monarch was Elizabeth II and Prime Minister was Harold Wilson (Labour). Parliament decided to nationalize 90% of the British steel industry. UK applies for EEC membership although Charles de Gaulle vetoed it again. The QE2 is launched. The Concorde supersonic aircraft was unveiled in Toulouse, France. The Grand National was won by 100-1 outsider Foinavon after a pile up at one fence. Donald Campbell was killed trying to break the speed record on Coniston Water. Sandie Shaw sang Puppet on a String for UK's first win in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Beatles released their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Wimbledon is televised in colour for the first time. Patrick McGoohan's The Prisoner was first broadcast in the UK on ITV.
Elizabeth II (1952-2022)
Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning British Monarch ever, reigning for over 70 years. Born on 21 April 1926 to King George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, she became Queen in 1952 and her Coronation was on 2 June 1953. She died on 8 September 2022. Some coins were released dated 2023.Queen Elizabeth II issued many coins and was monarch during decimalisation. She married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 and had four children. Her eldest son succeeded the throne as King Charles III. House of Windsor.

The Penny is one of the most famous British coins. The coin itself has been around since 600AD and at various times has been struck in silver, copper and bronze. Originally split into halfpennies and farthing, it is now itself the least denomination coin currently in circulation. Made from copper (actually copper plated steel). Originally there were 12 pennies in one shilling and 240 pennies in £1; since decimalisation in 1971 there are 100 new pence in one pound.
Composition: Early pennies were Silver, then Copper, Bronze and Copper coated steel.
Which Mint: The Royal Mint
The Royal Mint is the designated place for the UK to mint coins. It dates back well over 1000 years and is a Government-owned company. Formed in the reign of Alfred the Great about the year 886, during the period 1279-1812 it was generally referred to as The Tower Mint as it was housed at the Tower of London. The Master of The Royal Mint has included famous figures such as Sir Isaac Newton.
Since 2010 it has operated as Royal Mint Ltd, a company owned by HM Treasury, under an exclusive contract to supply all coinage for the UK although it also produces medals and coins for other countries. It is currently located at Llantrisant, Wales.
