The 1726 Silver Crown - George ISilver Crown coin of King George I. Diameter 38.6mm and weight 30.1g. SCBC: 3639A. The reverse of the 1726 has slightly smaller plumes and roses than the earlier crowns of George I.
The Regal year is printed in the edge, in the case of the 1726 crown it is DECIMO TERTIO.
The Obverse of the 1726 crown coin shows a laureated and draped bust of King George I facing right, designed by John Croker. Legend is "GEORGIVS D G M BR FR RT HIB REX F D".
The Reverse shows crowned cruciform shields with Garter Star in centre, roses and plumes in angles. Legend is "BRVN ET L DVX S R I A TH ET EL". The Latin "BRVN ET L DVX S R I" extends to Brunswick et Luneburg Dux, Sacrum Romanum Imperatoria meaning "Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, Arch-Treasurer and Prince Elector of the Holy Roman Empire". Date is split above.The coin shown is graded as EF and is difficult to find in this condition, so this would be an expensive coin (around £6000-7000).
