Coin struck from genuine dies at a date later than the original issue. Usually to save time, money or cover for a broken die.
Real
A small Spanish coin, being one-eighth of a Peso.
Reeded Edge
Edge of a coin with grooved lines around the perimeter. Also known as a Milled edge
Regnal Name
The name taken by a Monarch (or Pope) during their reign, not necessarily their birth name.
Regnal number
An ordinal number used to distinguish between monarchs of the same name, for example George I, George II, George III, etc.
Reverse
The back of the coin, i.e. 'tails'
Rim
Raised portion of the design found on the edge to protect the coin from wear. It also makes the coins stackable and easy to roll by machine.
Rouble
The currency of Russia.
Rupee
The currency of India and some other countries.
