The 2014 First Spouse $10 Gold: 1929-1933 Lou Hoover

Lou Hoover was the wife of the 31st President, Herbert Hoover. This coin was released in 2014.

Lou Henry was born 29 March 1874 in Iowa and died 7 January 1944. She married Herbert in 1899.

The Obverse shows a portrait of Mrs Hoover. Sculptor: Michael Gaudioso. Designer: Susan Gamble.

The Reverse shows a 1920’s radio representing Mrs. Hoover’s first public radio address as First Lady. She was the first First Lady to do so. Sculptor: Jim Licaretz, Designer: Richard Masters.

Where the President does not have a spouse, then an image of Liberty from that time period is used on the Obverse. Images from the life of the Presidential term are used on the Reverse.

The program started in 2007. Each coin is ½oz of 0.999 gold and available as a bullion or as a Proof coin. They were minted at the West Point Mint.
