2013 Gold Sovereign - Coronation 60th Anniversary
On the 2nd June 2013, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the 60th year of her reign. Only Queen Victoria had previously achieved this amazing milestone. To honour the event, the Royal Mint minted a limited amount of gold sovereigns on the very day itself.
The limited presentation edition of 2,013 (to match the year of the anniversary) that were minted on the day itself were individually boxed with a certificate of Authenticity (COA). The finish is Brilliant Uncirculated.
Over 2013, the actual mintage of all BU sovereigns was 15,000. Proof sovereigns were also issued in 2013.
Benedetto Pistrucci's famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverse of the coin.
