1963 saw the Royal Mint creating a large number of bullion sovereigns.

The Reverse depicts Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous portrayal of St George slaying the dragon.

Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait can be seen on the obverse of the coin, designed by Mary Gillick.

No Proof Sovereigns were issued in 1963.
