The Obverse shows Tsar Nicholas II facing left. The inscription (which is in Russian) says 'BY THE GRACE OF GOD NICHOLAS 2, EMPEROR AND RULER OF ALL RUSSIA'.

Nicholas II (Russia) (1894-1917)
Nicholas II (or Nikolai II Alexandrovich Romanov) was the last Emperor of Russia, King of Congress Poland and Grand Duke of Finland. In the Russian Orthodox Church he was known as Saint Nicholas the Passion-Bearer. Nicolas is the grandson of Queen Victoria.Born in St Petersburg on 18 May 1868. He abdicated on 15 March 1917 after being deposed slightly earlier. He was assassinated on 17 July 1918.
