Helen Taft was the wife of the 27th President, William Howard Taft. This coin was released in 2013.

Born Helen Louise Herron on 2 June 1861 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married 'Will' in 1886. She died 22 May 1943, aged 81.

The Obverse shows a portrait of Mrs Taft. Sculptor: Phebe Hemphill.

The Reverse shows Japanese cherry trees in Washington, one of Mrs Taft's favourite trees.

General Description: First Spouse $10 Gold Coins
Following the same schedule as the Presidential $1 Coins, the First Spouse gold half-ounce $10 coins honour the first spouse of each President. Where the President does not have a spouse, then an image of Liberty from that time period is used on the Obverse. Images from the life of the Presidential term are used on the Reverse.

The program started in 2007. Each coin is ½oz of 0.999 gold and available as a bullion or as a Proof coin. They were minted at the West Point Mint.
