The 2013 First Spouse $10 Gold: 1901-1909 Edith Roosevelt

Edith Roosevelt was the second wife of the 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt. This coin was released in 2013.

Born as Edith Kermit Carow on 6 August 1861 in Norwich, Connecticut. She married 'Teddy' in 1886. She died on 30 September 1948, aged 87.

The Obverse shows a portrait of Mrs Roosevelt. Sculptor: Joseph Menna. Designer: Joel Iskowitz.

The Reverse shows an image of the work done by Mrs Roosevelt on the restoration of the White House in 1902. Sculptor: Don Everhart. Designer: Chris Costello.

Where the President does not have a spouse, then an image of Liberty from that time period is used on the Obverse. Images from the life of the Presidential term are used on the Reverse.

The program started in 2007. Each coin is ½oz of 0.999 gold and available as a bullion or as a Proof coin. They were minted at the West Point Mint.
